Creeper History

Creepers were invented by George Cox and initially marketed under the Hamilton brand name, which was based on George Cox Jr.'s middle name. The brothel creeper was a big hit throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Malcolm McLaren gave the shoe a new lease of life in the early 1970s when he began selling the shoes from his Let it Rock shop in London's Kings Road. The shoes were snapped up by his Teddy Boy clientele, and when McLaren and his partner Vivienne Westwood decided to change the shop into a more rocker-oriented fashion, the brothel creeper still proved to be popular amongst the customers. The shoe has since been adopted by some members of other subcultures, such as punk, psychobilly and goth.
-Information Quoted from the George Cox Wiki

In 1999 the George Cox Comapany Celebrated thier 50th year with the release of a special "Golden Anniversary" Creeper shoe. Many people in the US do not have direct access to the Creeper shoe produced by the George Cox Comapny. The local producer of Creeper for US export is the T.U.K. company. This company is, like GC based in England but is in no way related to the George Cox company. In recent years the George Cox company has been subjected to a major influx of copy cat makers which is actually forciing the inventers of this legendary shoe out of business. George Cox prides themselves on hand making every style in small quantities so that each fit is original. Many of the copycat companies mass produce the shoes offshore. Since the Punk, Goth, and many other subcultures have once again fallen in love with this iconic shoe the demand for the style is high. Comapanies that produce more flood the market and the original company suffers.

WHile they are not avialable in the US directly, While they are still avalabile several companies mainly catering to the Japanese Street fashion subculture in Japan offer overseas export of thier product including Genuine George Cox Brothel Creepers.
